Diamond Jubilee Weekend on BHR1287Sunday 3rd June proved an eventful day at BHR1287's studios. Celebrations were in place for The Queen's Diamond Jubilee all over the hospital. First a visit around the wards, where we found lots of patients only too willing to share their Coronation memories with us of the 2nd June 1953. We chatted to patients Edward, Nora and Christopher, also Sister Anna who had her photo taken with us in our jubilee outfits. Then off to the restaurant where we met a team of the Thames Ambulance Crew who allowed us to take their photo and chatted on a well earned break, having to work this weekend. Security staff were also in the celebration mood, as a member of security posed with us for another photo shoot. Then it was off to the studios to prepare for our programme where we presented 60 tracks along with 60 facts about the Queen, some proving very interesting. Our youngest presenter Joe was on a big learning curve, not only on the music front. After an enjoyable but exhausting five and a half hours we finally finished with the national anthem "God Save The Queen" where the boys just stood up and saluted her Majesty for sixty great years of service. |
